Ulcerate are a band from New Zealand that plays a very brutal and technical form of death metal with some black and doom metal elements and this is a review of their 2016 album "Shrines Of Paralysis" which will be released on October 28th by Relapse Records.
A very fast, heavy, brutal and technical sound starts off the album along with a great amount of blast beats as well as some death metal growls making their presence known on the recording and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
Black metal screams can be heard in the music at time and the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody and a great portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length and you can also hear a great amount of doom metal elements in the slower sections of the songs and when guitar leads are utilized briefly they remain very true to a technical style and the album also remains very heavy from beginning to ending of the recording.
Ulcerate creates another recording that remains true to the brutal and technical death metal style of previous releases while also adding in more black and doom metal elements this time around, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover human condition, inner struggles and destruction themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Ulcerate and if you are a fan of brutal and technical death metal with some doom and black metal elements, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Yield To Naught" "Chasm Of Fire" "and "End The Hope". 8 out of 10.
