Disemballerina are a band from Portland, Oregon that plays a mixture of neo-classical and funeral doom metal and this is a review of t heir 2016 album "Poison Gown" which will be released in July by Minotauro Records.
Acoustic guitars along with some cello's start off the album and the music is all instrumental and brings in a very experimental and avant garde feeling while also mixing in the atmosphere of funeral doom without the distorted heaviness or harsh vocals and violins are also used in some of the songs.
Harp's, machette's, and bajo quinto's can be heard in certain sections of the recording and you can also hear a great amount of classical music elements throughout the recording and the acoustic guitars also use a great amount of full chords and finger picking and all of the songs stick to a very slow musical direction and the last track is very long and epic in length.
Disemballerina plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in neo-classical while also mixing it in with the atmosphere of funeral doom metal and they also keep everything instrumental and the production sounds very dark and raw.
In my opinion Disemballerina are a very great sounding mixture of neo-classical and funeral doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "That Is The Head Of One Who Toyed With my Honor" and "Styx". 8 out of 10.
